Sleep & Airway Orthodontics
Narrow arches, bite problems, and growth patterns can affect how comfortably you or your child breathe—especially during sleep. Aspen Orthodontics provides real orthodontic care that often supports a healthier airway: expansion, braces or Invisalign, and oral appliances when they fit your case.

How orthodontic care supports airway & sleep
Tooth position, arch width, and jaw relationships help shape oral volume and nasal vs. mouth breathing habits. When those structures are crowded, narrow, or poorly related, many patients notice mouth breathing, restless sleep, or snoring alongside their smile concerns.
Our doctors—Drs. Stephen Hunsaker, Nathan Yetter, and Matthew Hunsaker—plan treatment that aligns teeth and jaws with an eye toward airway-friendly growth and function. Orthodontic care often supports better breathing and sleep as bite and arch form improve—personalized after a thorough exam, never as a one-size internet protocol.

Frequently asked questions
Can braces or Invisalign help with snoring or mouth breathing?
Orthodontic treatment that expands arches, improves bite relationships, and aligns jaws often supports better oral function and breathing habits. Results depend on your anatomy and plan. We will explain what orthodontics can realistically help with after we evaluate you in person.
Do you offer expansion for narrow arches?
Yes—when a narrow upper arch or crossbite is indicated, expansion is part of how we create room for teeth and support a fuller, more functional smile. Timing and appliance choice depend on growth stage and exam findings.
Do you offer oral appliances?
When appropriate for your case, we discuss custom oral appliances as part of airway-supportive care. Not every patient needs one; suitability is decided after examination and a conversation about your goals and history.
Should my child see an orthodontist for mouth breathing?
Mouth breathing has more than one cause, but jaw growth and tooth position often matter. An orthodontic evaluation can assess arch form, bite, and whether expansion or early guidance would help. The AAO recommends an orthodontic check by age 7.
Are you sleep doctors?
No. Aspen Orthodontics’ doctors are board-certified orthodontists. We treat the tooth, jaw, and bite factors that relate to airway and sleep comfort—we do not market ourselves as sleep-medicine specialists.
